Listen

We take time to prpoerly understand your business and your customers, before anything gets decided.

2

Diagnose

We find the root, not just the symptom in the brief.

3

Co-create

We shape it together, so it fits your business and feels like yours.

How we get there

Every project starts the same way: by listening

Not to the brief, to what's beneath it. You'll arrive with a challenge in mind, maybe a rebrand, a new website, a pitch that isn't resonating, and quite often the thing you think you need isn't the thing that will make the difference. So we keep digging until we find the root, and build from there together.

Three ways we can work together

A good place to start

The Messaging Sprint

One working session, with a clear outcome at the end of it.

We take the way you describe your work and turn it into a sentence other people can repeat.

For founders with something coming up, a pitch, a launch, a funding round, who need the message sorted before it arrives. If that sounds like you, book a call and let's get started.

The full strategy work

The Strategy Engagement

Most projects take 10 to 14 weeks, done for you and shaped with you.

The full foundations of who you are, who you're here for and why you matter, then the identity, website and content to carry them.

If your work has outgrown the way you talk about it, this is the engagement that helps your brand catch up. It starts with a conversation, let's have a call to explore how we might work together

The partnership

Fractional CMO

I join your team as its senior marketing lead, for as long as you need me.

Brand and marketing leadership on retainer, scaling up and down with whatever the year brings.

If marketing keeps slipping down the list because everyone is busy doing the actual work, it might be time to hand it to someone whose job it is. Book a call and tell me what's ahead for you.

What we're working towards

Understood, trusted, repeated

Understood

People who don't do what you do understand it without the long version, so you stop losing work and funding to whoever's easier to say yes to.

Trusted

The way you present yourself matches the quality of the work behind it, so people take you seriously before you've said a word.

Repeated

One story that sounds the same wherever it's told, on your website and in your pitch deck, one that every team member knows by heart.

Risk Pool Alliance brand identity

Where this leads

The Risk Pool Alliance transformation

A strategy engagement first, an ongoing partnership now: impact reports, annual reports, social and email, all built on the foundation we shaped together. One area of impact has since become four, and the team has grown to match.

The questions that come up when people are deciding

  • One working session that ends with your message in a sentence other people can repeat: your team, your funders and investors, and the clients you want next. It's built for brands with a pitch, a launch or a funding round coming up, and it uses the reframing method from my workshops.

  • Discovery and customer research first, because the strategy is only as good as what it's built on. Then the full foundations, from positioning and messaging through to tone of voice, and the identity, website and content that carry them, all inside the same engagement.

  • I join your team as its senior marketing lead: planning the launches, steering the brand, briefing specialists and keeping the story consistent while everything around it changes.
Digital marketing sits inside the role rather than being bolted on. I scale up for launches and funding rounds, and step back when you don't need me.

  • Most run 10 to 14 weeks. The discovery and research at the front sets the pace, and how long that takes varies with the problem we're solving. The sprint is a single session. A fractional CMO arrangement runs monthly and rolls on from there.

  • Each way of working is priced differently. The sprint is a fixed fee for the session, the strategy engagement is a fixed project fee, and fractional CMO is a monthly retainer that
scales with whatever the year brings. On a retainer I'd normally suggest at least six months, because that's how long the work takes to show. You get a figure after the first call.

  • Yes, and the strategy comes first either way. I can take the strategy on its own if that's all you need, but I won't build a website or content without it, because there would be
nothing solid underneath. Where the build happens, I can work alongside your existing team or bring in people I know and trust.

  • I help you embed it in your team and carry it forward, so it doesn't end up as a document in a drawer, and I can stay on after the engagement to support the rollout. With Risk
Pool Alliance that became an ongoing partnership, and one area of impact has since grown to four.

  • Yes. The reframing workshop takes a team through the same method in the room: audience as hero, burden into opportunity, and the message down to one sentence. It
was built and delivered for the Sustainable Hydrogen CDT, a four-university EPSRC programme. Workshops are booked directly, so get in touch with your dates and group size.

  • I do. You work directly with me the whole way through, with no handoffs and no account managers. Where a project needs specialist skills, illustration or development for
instance, I bring in people I know and have worked with before, and the work stays my responsibility.

  • That's what the first conversation is for. As a rough guide: if you need one message sorted quickly, start with the sprint. If your work has outgrown the way you talk about it,

the engagement is the one. If marketing keeps slipping down the list because everyone is busy, the retainer solves that.

Find out why your message isn't getting through

Six questions to ask about something you've already sent out: a funding bid, a pitch, your about page. It takes 15 minutes and a pen. By the end you'll know which sentences your reader actually needs, which ones are only there for you, and what to change before you write the next one.

Not sure what you need?

That's what the first conversation is for.
